Health is so much more than just exercise and eating right, it is the balance between mind and body and knowing how the world around us affects our health. Take for example the idea of free radicals. These are elements in the air that have negative health effects, and while some are unavoidable, others are not.
In order to maintain the vessel of our body, it is important to do our part to avoid free radicals, but how? Perhaps the most commonly accepted way to combat free radicals is through the use of antioxidants.
Antioxidants include various vitamins and minerals, all of which can be found in healthy foods.
Which foods contain antioxidants?
Many foods, often referred to as super foods contain high levels of antioxidants proven to help combat free radicals in the body. These include, but are not limited to blueberries, nuts, tea, dark grapes, and whole grains.
And while these foods will not completely eliminate free radicals in the body, they are useful for slowing the effects of aging that free radicals cause. It is estimated that just a single serving of any of these foods daily can reverse the aging process from free radicals significantly.
Of course, all of this should be coupled with a balanced diet and exercise, but this is one of the ways in which we can use knowledge of the world around us to help combat the negative effects of the world in which we live. The fight for health is not an easy one, but with knowledge comes power.
